Blackmagic Design has released the latest Beta for DaVinci Resolve, which they herald as the world’s most advanced color correction tool.” And to put their own new touch onto this very popular app, Blackmagic has rebuilt Version 9 with a completely redesigned interface.
“This significant user interface overhaul has been created to harness the power of multiple new technologies added to DaVinci Resolve in the last few years, including automatic 3D eye matching, multi layering timelines, XML support plus more camera and file type support.” – DaVinci Resolve Beta Press Release
The new Blackmagic-fied release of Resolve sports easier project import, export and selection workflow, the ability to scrub and review media assets from thumbnails for faster shot selection, production metadata fields for entering on set shot notes and larger color control palettes for grading and control of power windows, keys, sizing, tracking and stabilization, camera raw and data burn ins.
Other new features in DaVinci Resolve 9 include ‘Log grading’ across every corrector node, audio playback support to 16 channels per source clip, and audio renders in both Quicktime and MXF. Automatic ‘Audio Sync’, clip data burn ins and batch rendering for dailies have also been added, as well as new 3D options.
