Hotel Transylvania: An Animated Monster Movie From Genndy Tartakovsky

By Heath McKnight (doddleNEWS)

Genndy Tartakovsky may not be a household name, but this legendary animator and director created the fun Samurai Jack, and worked with George Lucas on the first set of Clone Wars cartoons, which premiered as small ‘bits’ on Cartoon Network around 2004, early 2005, before Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith opened. Now he’s got his first film, Hotel Transylvania, and it looks like a lot of fun. Check out the two Hotel Transylvania trailers here.

The film, which opens September 28, just in time for a month of Halloween celebrations (who doesn’t get ready by late September, early October?), tells of the story of a resort run by Count Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler), who is also raising his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) while catering to monsters visiting from all over the world. However, when a normal human comes in named Jonathan (voiced by Andy Samberg) and falls for Mavis, all heck breaks loose.

The trailers are fun, and I’m a big fan of Genndy, plus it’s co-written by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog creator and voice Robert Smigel, so we’ll likely get some great, albeit family-friendly, humor. The rest of the cast includes Kevin James (Frank/Frankenstein), Steve Buscemi (Wayne the Werewolf), David Spade (Griffin the Invisible Man), Cee-Lo Green (Murray the Mummy), Molly Shannon (Wanda), Fran Dresher (Eunice), and Jon Lovitz (Quasimodo).
