WASHINGTON, Jan. 15 (UPI) — A U.S. man has filed a lawsuit claiming coincidences in Fox movies and television shows prove Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. defamed him and invaded his privacy.
The complaint filed Wednesday in Washington federal court by Michael Charles Bertsch lists alleged similarities in the 2001 film “Donnie Darko” and the TV shows, “The X-Files” and “Burn Notice” as evidence, The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday.
Bertsch’s suit cites elements in “Donny Darko” such as number similarities and character names, makes of cars featured and “resemblances” of characters to people in his life.
“Donnie Darko’s sister’s name is Elizabeth. My sister’s name is Elizabeth,” the suit says.
“The family car in the movie was a sky blue Ford Taurus. My father has the exact same car with the exact same color,” documents say.
Bertsch also cites plot points in “Burn Notice” and “The X-Files” he says match details of his personal life, THR reported.
