Transformers 4 Titled Age of Extinction

For many fans, Transformers 4 picture is the sequel that no one really wanted.

But in Hollywood, the box office doesn’t lie. And with over $2.5 billion grossed worldwide, Michael Bay is rolling out another mindless computer generated romp aimed at rebooting the franchise after the critical disappointment of Dark of the Moon (2011).

Now, thanks to Yahoo Movies, we have a new teaser poster and a rather ominous new title: Transformers: Age of Extinction.

After producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, in an interview with Beijing News (via Empire), suggested that the Dinobots would feature in the film, the inclusion of the word ‘extinction’ in the title, all but seals the deal.

He said: “I can not disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the arrival of the Dinobots will give the audience a lot to be excited about. The world’s coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including Chinese vehicles, so whether you are a car enthusiast or not, it will be a feast for the eyes.”

The thought of robotic dinosaurs may seem laughable, but this a Michael Bay film, where is everything is loud and fairly ridiculous.

Also, the Dinobots were a big part of the original animated series and film, Transformers The Movie (1986), thus their arrival will be welcomed by hardcore fans of the series.

Is Michael Bay posing much?

Director Bay has already indicated that this will be his time helming a Transformers film. However, the filmmaker, and the studio for that matter, are not about to leave this lucrative cash cow on the movie scrap heap, and have enlisted a whole new cast of characters to revitalise the series.

Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg will lend some star power to the film following the departure of Shia LaBeouf. Also joining the cast is Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Kelsey Grammar and Stanley Tucci.

Transformers: Age of Extinction will be released on June 27th, 2014. And our editor Heath McKnight loves the movies, but mostly as guilty pleasure viewing. He also gives the new Universal Studios – Orlando ride a big thumbs up.
